Why is my Waterpik toothbrush not working?
The most common reason for little or no water flow is a clogged jet tip. You can troubleshoot this condition by removing the jet tip and observing if water bubbles up from the top when the device is powered on. To remove the tip, press the Tip Eject button (refer to your owner’s manual if needed).
How long does a Waterpik last?
We recommend replacing the Classic Jet Tip, Implant Denture Tip, and Tongue Cleaner every 6 months because mineral deposits can collect and reduce performance over time. For tips with bristles, we recommend replacing every 3 months. Similar to a toothbrush, the bristles can splay, making the tip less effective.
Can you use a Waterpik too much?
If you have been told you have gum disease, your dental professional may recommend using a Waterpik® Water Flosser more often than once per day until the gum disease is under control. Sometimes it is necessary to use the special Pik Pocket® Tip for more severe areas, such as periodontal pockets.
Why wont my Waterpik turn on?
Waterpik Does Not Run If the Waterpik will not run at all, the first thing to check is the outlet itself. The on/off switches on many models of Waterpik can become jammed and fail to function. Move the switch to the “off” position, then firmly move it back to the “on” position.
How do you unclog a Waterpik?
Soak the Water Flosser tip in a container of 2 parts water, 1 part hydrogen peroxide or white vinegar for 5 minutes. Rinse the tip under warm water. For maximum effectiveness over time, we recommend replacing Water Flosser tips every 3-6 months. The tips can become clogged and/or affected by mineral deposits.
Can I put peroxide in my Waterpik?
A capful of hydrogen peroxide is safe to use in your Waterpik. You can also add some saltwater to boost the antibacterial effects.
How often should you clean a Waterpik?
Waterpick recommends you perform this cleaning every one to three months.
- Step 1: You will clean the water reservoir and reservoir valve.
- Step 2: You will clean the internal parts of your water flosser.
- Step 3: You will clean the exterior of the handle and the flosser tip separately.

Help Reverse Gingivitis at Home Using a Waterpik® Water Flosser is clinically proven to: Remove up to 99.9 % of plaque from treated areas along the gum line and between teeth. Help prevent, reduce, or reverse gingivitis (gum disease)
Should I Waterpik before or after brushing?
We recommend using the Water Flosser prior to toothbrushing: Removing food and debris enhances the effectiveness of both toothbrushing and toothpaste. Instructing patients to use it first improves compliance. Seeing the food and debris that the Water Flosser removes can help motivate your patient to Water Floss daily.
Can Waterpik help periodontal disease?
Waterpik® oral health care products are clinically proven to reduce gingivitis, remove plaque, and improve gum health to help prevent and treat gum disease.
Do you still need to floss when using a Waterpik?
Yes. Keep in mind that water flossers are only an adjunct to brushing and flossing. If you only use water flossers and don’t floss you can still get cavities in between your teeth. You need to break the contact between your teeth with floss.
